    My name is Rodrigo Rieiro. I am a Spanish architect and Ph.D. student resident in Copenhagen . Together with the art gallery Espacio California (https://twitter.com/espacioca), I am attempting to organize an exhibition on Emdrups Skrammellegepladsen in Seville, Spain, next December.

    Firstly, I would like to know if you have any sort of archive material of the project. Any orientation on other possible custodians of the material would be of great help in this endeavor. Besides that, we would like to know if is part of this foundation goals to support this kind of initiatives.

    Yunk-ology. The huts are real.
    Spatial coproduction, as well as its interaction between space and users, has been a recurrent matter of concern by architects, artists, theorists and a part of the public during last decades, linked to our personal and political responsibilities in the shaping of the surrounding material world.
    Few experiences in the matter so radical and enduring as the Danish skrammellegepladser. On summer 1943 the landscape architect C. Th. Sørensen, the architect Dan Fink, and around 200 children from Emdrup neighborhood in Copenhagen, started through their games and activities, on which children’s ideas and practices were supported by grown-ups, this particular tradition of playgrounds, which has already more than 70 years of history.
    The ludic practices of spatial co-creation developed in these playgrounds anticipated many years the popularization in the city of other constructive practices characterised as well by hight levels of participation of users and architects together, like flexible housing, co-housing or communes. Can be wondered whether Emdrup children’s huts are not one of the most radical examples of participative architecture.
    In 1968, Moderna Museum in Stockholm hosted with great success Modellen exhibition. It was a playground also built by and for children playing with discarded materials. This experiment was envisioned by Danish artists upon some previous experiences working in playgrounds in Copenhagen.
    The efficiency of the artistic frame for the experimentation and dissemination of new socio-material practices seems equally prevailing now and here. It is suggested a double action in the cultural exhibition space California, displaying archive material from Emdrup’s skrammellegeplads, to spread this valuable constructive organization prototype, as well as supporting the installation of a temporary playground built by the neighboring children with waste material, to rehearse these practices with an eye put on the renovation of the urban practices in the city of Seville.
